Saw a quote today that really spoke volumes to me. As Camino de Santiago pilgrims, we tend to sometimes focus on the distance of our journey, its difficulties and challenges. The wisest of us know, of course, that it is not how far we traveled that really matters. It is the journey itself and what we learned along the way. The 19th century essayist and poet, John Burroughs put it this way: “The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are.” Take this to heart, dear friends and Buen Camino!

I love how everyone’s Camino is SO different! I quite envy you staying in such luxurious places… My Camino was far more ‘basic’ but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It was the most life altering, fabulous thing I’ll never do again!
